Selected Haiku and Senryu

squirre'ls' nest

tucked in the branches--

a sleepy huddle

pigeons

bobbing—

conga line

lake mist

loons calling—

a chill

sliver

of a moon--

slipping between clouds

twiliight

signing out--

leaving the office

nana’s quilt
tucked in tight—
my old dog snores

an older woman
pausing at the curb—
a stranger offers an arm

bartender listening--

recreating

Mom's favorite drink

a peanut on the sill--

today

he brings a bottle cap

some days

I yearn

for a hobbit hole

I could have

but didn't--

case closed

butterfly on my book—
trying not to
sneeze

coffee
in the cup holder—
red-light sips

non-stop cawing—
suddenly nothing
restarting my meditation

ladies at tea—

martinis between

cucumber sandwiches
